FAQ

How Old should baby be for our newborn session?

Ideally, newborn sessions take place in the first 5-14 days after your little one arrives. They change daily in that first month so for ultimate newborn freshness, I like to keep it within this window.

However, one of the beautiful things about lifestyle newborn sessions is that we can be flexible depending on how baby is doing, mom is healing and your family is adjusting together. If your little one will be older than this, or you are unable to schedule a newborn session right away that is A-OK! Family-centered newborn sessions can be scheduled around your timeline.

I've been through it three times so I understand what those first exhausting, euphoric days are like - enjoy having your new love all to yourselves for a few days and, when you're ready, we will schedule a date that works for everyone.

how do we decide on a date when we aren't sure when baby will arrive?

When securing your newborn session I put your expected due date in my calendar. Babies are unpredictable so we use this date as a reference only. Once your little one arrives, we will confirm a date for our session together.

How do I prep for my in-home session?

In-home sessions are all about connecting with each other and your newest little love so we like to get REAL cozy. Anywhere with a solid snuggle factor is fair game but the main places I shoot in your home are the master bedroom and baby's nursery.

To prep your bedroom, please clear off bedside tables and make your bed. A white or light neutral-coloured duvet works best (no patterns, if possible). In baby's room, I use the crib a lot as we can get so many creative angles and amazing detail shots with it!

If you are considering booking me, I can assume you've seen some of my work and know that I am a sucker for great lighting and unique details so I will sniff out any room with interesting furniture, vintage feels, or fantastic light that will add a personal touch to your images.

What do we wear?

I understand how stressful it can be to choose outfits for everyone so I provide a full styling guide to all of my clients and ongoing wardrobe consultation leading up to our session.

Can our pets be included?

Pets are a huge part of your family! I get it. Dogs, cats, pot-bellied pigs, llamas - I'm so in. There are many ways to safely incorporate pets into some of your photos. Of course, baby's safety is always my number one priority!
