Hey friend,

My name is Courtney. I’ve always been an old soul with a young heart - a lover of the nostalgic and the imperfect. A few of my favourite things are classic films, historical fiction, teaching, good food, yoga, my three wild littles, being at my grandma's house and lazy summer days. I am most alive exploring new places and most at peace at home with a hot coffee and great book. Forever enthralled by the human condition, truly "seeing" people makes me feel like my best self.

Stories have always fascinated me; my grandma's in particular. Her home is filled with photographs of the many beautiful people who touched her life and I remember bringing her various frames and asking her to tell me about the people in them. The stories made me laugh, made my heart break over the ones she loved so much and eventually had to say goodbye to, and made me feel so very close to people I'll never meet. They bonded me to her in indescribable ways and made me feel as though their stories were mine now to carry. I also carry with me the stories of everyone who's been on the other side of my lens. That is the power of what I get to do.

Photography for me is the art of capturing human connection; of finding a piece of yourself in another person. And isn’t this what we are all here for? Life is incredible, heartbreaking, messy and beautiful. It is a series of tiny, seemingly insignificant moments that write the stories of a life well-lived. If I’m going to tell yours, I want to tell it so authentically that you continue to be overwhelmed with emotion every time you look back on it. 

So, bring me your wonderful, glorious, chaos. Trust me when I say, I want your wildness. Bring me busy kids and snuggly babies; the real moments and the mess. We are going to play and get loud. We are going to run and laugh and be as much ourselves as ever. I'm not here for perfectly matching outfits and posed strained smiles at the camera. I am here for big emotions and fireworks. If you're looking for a photographer to sit everyone down and make you say "cheese", I'm not it. But if you’re looking for a photographer to embody your heart + soul in photographs then I'm your gal - and we are going to make some magic together.
